The Australian Academy of Science Honorific Awards for scientific excellence are made to early-career researchers under 40 and to career researchers for life-long achievements. Honorific awards are generally open to any scientist normally resident in Australia, with some exceptions such as the Haddon Forrester King Medal. Please check the specific criteria for each award. Nominations may be made by anyone in the scientific community, with the exception of the Macfarlane Burnet or the Matthew Flinders Medals and Lectures for which nominations may only be made by Academy Fellows.
Candidates are nominated on the forms provided for each award and are short-listed by the selection committees for further consideration. Nominators of short-listed candidates are contacted in early September.
