Funding Body:

Sir Zelman Cowen Universities Fund

Title:

Blue Sky Research Grant

Research Areas:

Health Sciences; Sciences & Engineering

Type:

Research Grants

Description:

The Sir Zelman Cowen Universities Fund is a Sydney trust funding medical and scientific research and promoting co-operative work between the University of Sydney and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.  Recognising that many great scientific discoveries are based on once blue-sky, fanciful ideas looking for a backer, the Fund has established a grant, to provide such backing.  The grant is for a research project in an emerging area such as (but not limited to) organ/tissue regeneration where researchers will aim to use the funds to gain sufficient momentum to be competitive in larger funding systems. Preference will be given to imaginative proposals with good scientific rationale and potential to make a significant innovative advance in human health.

Amount awarded:

The Grant will comprise an award of AUS$100,000 for 1 year, commencing January 2012,
