Description:

This Scholarship has been established to support an outstanding PhD student to conduct research into the area of diabetes. This research will determine the mechanisms that control insulin secretion and applying this knowledge to the development of new treatments for type 1 diabetes.
This Scholarship is to provide supplementary support for the living costs of students while completing their studies.

Eligibility:

1. The Scholarship is offered subject to the applicant having an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled in full-time studies in a PhD at the University of Sydney.

2. Applicants must undertake research into the area of diabetes, in particular the mechanisms that control insulin secretion and applying this knowledge to the development of new treatments for type 1 diabetes.

3. Applicants must have an Honours degree or equivalent in biomedical sciences that includes lab-based experience.

4. Applicants must also be in recipient of a primary scholarship from the University of Sydney that will provide a stipend allowance.

Amount awarded:

The Scholarship will provide an annual stipend supplementary allowance of $10,000 per annum (fixed rate) for up to three years, subject to sarisfactory academic performance. The scholarship may be extended for a maximum of six months.
