Description:

A unique opportunity is available for an outstanding PhD scholar to undertake research into the field of vaccine safety social science to contribute to AusVaxSafety; Australia’s world-leading active vaccine safety system. 

This Scholarship is funded by The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) at The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (Randwick and Westmead).

Eligibility:

Eligibility Criteria

1. This Scholarship is offered subject to applicants having an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled full-time in a PhD at the University of Sydney.
2. Applicants must be willing to undertake research in the field of vaccine safety social science.
3. Applicants must also demonstrate experience and/or interest in conducting in-depth interviews and focus groups.
4. Applicants must have at least one supervisor affiliated with the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS).
5. Applicants must apply for the Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship. Application for other relevant scholarships is also encouraged.
6. Applicants must be Australian Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents or New Zealand Citizens.

 

Selection Criteria
1. The successful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship on the basis of: 

  • I. academic merit,
  • II. curriculum vitae,
  • III. a cover letter that demonstrates their area of research and experience, and
  • IV. recommendation from two referees.

2. Preference will be given to applicants whose primary supervisor is affiliated with the NCIRS.
3. The successful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship on the nomination of the primary research supervisor and the AusVaxSafety Evaluation Working Group co-chairs. 

Amount awarded:

The Scholarship will provide an annual stipend allowance of $35,000 per annum for up to three years, commencing on 17 July 2018, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

No extension will be granted.

If the successful recipient currently holds or is successful in receiving a Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship, they will be offered a Supplementary Scholarship which will be valued at the difference between $35,000 per annum and the minimum RTP Stipend Rate for the remaining duration of the Scholarship.
