University of Sydney
Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Advanced Structural Metallic Materials
Sciences & Engineering
An exciting new scholarship opportunity funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant is available to provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis for a research project leading to a PhD. The project aims to apply in-situ deformation transmission electron microscopy to quantitatively investigate the mechanical behaviour of metallic amorphous/crystalline composites.
Applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree or a Masters by research degree in materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering or condensed matter physics. Experience/background in transmission electron microscopy and mechanical properties of materials would be an advantage.
The scholarship stipend is $27,222 p.a. in 2010 (tax exempt).
Applications should be sent to Dr Liao (address below) and include a curriculum vitae, copy of an academic transcript, the names and contact details of at least two referees.
For further information, contact Dr. Xiaozhou Liao School of Aerospace, Mechanical & Mechatronic Engineering, The University of Sydney NSW 2006 (Phone: 93512348; Email: firstname.lastname@example.org), or Prof. Simon Ringer (Phone: 93512351; Email: email@example.com).
